Bonaire Museums

Things to Do in the Caribbean

Want to get more out of your stay in Bonaire? Looking for what to do in Bonaire while you are here? Go past the usual and experience Bonaire's history for yourself at one of the island's museums. There are plenty to choose from: seven different ones are located across the island. Bonaire Museum and Washington Park Museum are two of the largest.

Bonaire Museum is located in Sabana, a suburb of Kralendijk, about ten minutes by foot from its center. This house, which dates back to the 1800s, houses artifacts from different periods of Bonaire’s history, from Indian artifacts to historical photographs, firearms, cannonballs and more.

Washington Park Museum showcases the natural side of Bonaire from the entrance to Washington Slagbaai Park. Stop in on your way to the forest for more information on the island’s flora and fauna (including a preserved whale skeleton)—and a new perspective on plantation life from a restored cottage that stands inside the grounds.

Other Bonaire museums include Belua, Chichi ‘Tan, Mangazina di Rey, Kas Krioyo and more historical sites. Keep an eye out for these during your next trip to Bonaire!

Be sure to make a reservation at one of our Bonaire vacation homes so that you can enjoy all that our island has to offer.
